What I’ve Learned From Coffee
Some Reflections on a wonderful beverage
Coffee isn’t a wise teacher or a monk of good tidings. It’s a beverage, usually served warm. It’s bean water. And almost everyone drinks it every day around the world.
I’ve been drinking coffee regularly since college. It started with the Keurig, and then moving into coffee shops to socialize with friends. For the most part, I just consumed it mindlessly, though, coming to love the beneficial effects of caffeine and the morning ritual of coffee. Since then, I’ve come to know the drink a little bit more intimately. I wouldn’t claim any expertise, and I’m far from being even a knowledgeable fellow on the matter. But I’ve been in the process (key takeaway) of growing my appreciation for coffee, and I’ve learned a few things.
This piece will be a detour from my usual writing and it’s more of an exercise in daily reflection and musings.
Ritual
I’ve never been drawn in to the “Morning Routine to Boost Productivity” crowd. I enjoy my mornings — and by enjoy them I mean I take pleasure in mornings. The day is still quiet and slow, the sunlight is soft coming in through the shades, and the streets below the terrace are starting to slowly trickle with people walking various places.
