Thanks for that engaging response. I think this work (by Hurrfurth) is great in that it subtly illustrates the disgusting quality in a fantasy-come-true. Bosch's paintings (especially the Triptych) also have this quality. The too-much of fantasy.

I am not familiar with Zizek's PhD, but now I am very interested in reading it!

Yes, I think there is something to the idea that because the nostalgic object (of Wholeness) is always the fantasy of the Other, it can be anxiety provoking when 'acquired'. I do intend on writing a piece (hopefully finishing it by this Friday) that explores this idea as illustrated in Oscar Wilde's brilliant play, "Lady Windmere's Fan". I would love your feedback there, too, as I am still thinking through these concepts myself. It is a bit more difficult with Wilde's play, because it involves nostalgia, but much less explicitly, and has more to do with desire-as-such (actually, in relation to a specific other, rather than Other).
