I'm not sure there is a "in simple terms" explanation of subjectivity because of the very complex nature of the human experience. But essentially I think you are right, that the investigation of subjectivity is indeed the inquiry into the concrete lived experience. The publication S/R seeks to approach this primarily -- though not exclusively -- within the 'continental' tradition: Existentialism, German idealism, psychoanalysis, and so on.
